Energy Industry Years: 1 Preferred Salary: 20-25K GBP

Skills
Keywords: thermodynamic modelling, Matlab graphical user interface (GUI)
Profile: Throughout my courses of study, there are various situations where I was required to plan and organise my time in order to carry out the specific tasks of the project being undertaken. For my doctorate research degree, the course length is between 3 to 5 years. It was my responsibility to initially carry out a literature review on the subject of research and determine possible research routes into novel areas within the scope of the topic. In doing this, one had to go through and review copious amounts of research articles in and around the subject area, making notes where possible as I went along as well as keeping a log of the papers I had reviewed. Then, came the next stage of collecting data once, it was clear where I had made my choice to carry out further research. Collecting data naturally leads to various questions - is it the right data for research, how do additional sources of data relate to previously collected ones and if they do, by what criteria are they different? Are the differences between the datasets worth mentioning afterwards; are these differences significant enough that they affect results when subsequent analysis is carried out? If so, it may be necessary to carry out some sort of statistical analysis to determine whether or not your initial perception of the datasets does manifest in actual statistically significant differences such as the conclusions that may be drawn from performing various statistical tests based on the Null hypothesis. There are so many instances during this research project as well as other projects I completed that required detailed planning and organisation on my part. Often, at the middle to latter stages of these projects, supervisor meetings were kept to the bare minimum, as I had taken it upon myself to achieve the goals I set out at the beginning of the project.
