Candidate Id: 66251 Profession: Geoscientist

Energy Industry Years: 11 Preferred Salary: 70-80K GBP
Availability: 1 Week Preferred Title: Team leader/ project Supervisor
Keywords: Depth imaging, depth processing velocity model building, FWI, Tomography, migration
Profile: I started my career as a time processing geophysicist and after a few years, I went back to teach at university. During my time there, I was also doing some research. At some point during that time, I had summer internship in a R&D centre. In parallel I was working in university based company that was doing commercial projects for E&P companies Then, I decided to go back into industry and switch to imaging full-time. I consider myself an expert in depth imaging and I have a quite extensive portfolio of projects under my belt. At this point, I have 10+ years of experience and I was doing imaging for more than six years. Most of my experience acquired in one of the industry’s leading companies. My tenure at a service company was a happy time, through years the amount of my responsibilities grew to the point when I was trusted to lead imaging part of huge 150.000sq.km re-imaging multi-client program. The program is a huge success and is widely covered in the professional media. This program is still ongoing, however after being on this project for about 18 month I started filling that I need something new. Unfortunately, industry’s downturn did not provide much opportunity to change internally. When I was offered an opportunity to join young and ambitions start-up, I was flattered with the offer and took a risk of joining a start-up. It is a very small company, less than 10 people including HR and accountant. Their product is a cloud-based FWI. I was told that the company is interested in developing its commercial side and wants to expand their offer from only selling licences to running projects for clients. Since the employees are academics and none of them had sufficient industry experience, they required some outside expert to introduce best practises of running imaging projects including project and client management. After a few months, we finished the biggest to date project, but it became apparent that we disagree in organisational questions and probably my industry background sometimes does not agree with company’s academic culture. Essentially, during probation, we realised that we are not a good fit for each other and decided not to extend our partnership further. At the end, that is what probations are for.

Candidate Id: 66218 Profession: Geoscientist

Availability: 05 Sep 2019 Preferred Title: Geologist
Skills ArcGIS, ARCVIEW, CorelDRAW ® Graphics Suite, Kingdom Suite, MS Excel, Petrel, Surfer
Keywords: Sedimentology Reservoir Geoscience Remote Sensing GIS Geology Energy Consultancy Petroleum
Profile: During my time studying Geology with Physical Geography I have gained an extensive background in geological specialisations, including sedimentology, economic geology, reservoir geoscience and petroleum systems which I believe has prepared me to excel in my future career. A strong component of my degree is interlinking topics and integrating the broad knowledge in real-life exploration projects, such as Alaska and North Sea. I used these projects as practice for what I expect will be similar to the industry work I will be partaking in the future. In particular, I have enjoyed the fieldwork component over the four years which has improved my ability to think critically and ‘’outside the box’’ to solve geological problems under certain time constraints. Effectively participating in team projects and collaborating with peers to facilitate dynamic project success is a major element of my postgraduate degree which I look forward to use in the future. Through my previous work as a manager in customer services, I have gained additional skills that will be extremely beneficial for the success of my career, these include people management and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
