Our Client, a global Company focused on providing technology and engineering solutions seeks a Digital & AI Solutions Consultant to support their oil operator client with their ongoing Upstream Digital and AI initiatives in their reservoir and petroleum engineering domain. Applicants invited with a solid Reservoir/ Petroleum Engineering background combined with experience in the digitalisation of related workflows, the application of AI to solve reservoir management and production optimization challenges and the technical capability to lead AI initiatives. Technically competent, with strong hands-on skills, you will provide day to day expert advice to senior management and Reservoir/Petroleum Engineers on a number of ongoing projects and initiatives. The initial contract is for 12 months but it is likely that this may be extended for another 12 months.

This is a dual role, involving strategic level and hands on technical consultancy. Your overall task is to coordinate, identify and define business cases, define AI technology roadmaps, create best practices and case studies for promoting the use of digital oilfield technologies. In addition, oversee implementation of Digital Oil Field projects, provide technical advice, consultation, and technical coaching to subsurface and field operations on topics related to Digital Oil Field technologies and application.

This is an exciting new role offering a great deal of variety and scope to influence and direct the digitalisation strategies for the subsurface petroleum/reservoir engineering domain of a major oil operator.
You will undertake many tasks such as:
  • Develop/Update the RE/PE AI & Digital Based Technologies Roadmap - taking into consideration global practice and trends.
  • Oversee the implementation of ongoing digital solutions to create value from data, including data mining, predictive analytics, machine learning and big data, including Autonomous Well Control, Data-driven Reservoir Modelling for Production Injection Optimization and Well Portfolio Optimization.
  • Define upstream digital transformation initiatives to enhance the reservoir and wells performance, through automated efficient processes and constraints management
  • Lead and contribute to development of advanced AI and Digital solutions through scripting and process management across various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define interfaces, understand the challenges and provide solutions to better align key interrelated areas: people, automated workflows, processes and technologies.
  • Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement, through design and implementation of new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of existing workflows and operational processes
  • Review and oversee added-value and lessons learned from internal and outside use cases
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives
  • Lead Best Practices and Standardization of subsurface AI and Data Analytics Discipline.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Extensive experience in Reservoir & Petroleum Engineering essential
  • Subject Matter advisory skills in RE/PE AI & Digitalization Domain essential - through demonstration of relevant solutions development with data/system architecture and processes.
  • The ability to identify opportunities for application of AI technologies to improve performance and create value essential.
  • Experience in AI & Digitalization projects management and development of requirements including internal and external stakeholders essential.
  • Hands-on experience in statistical and data mining techniques such as Regression Simulation, Scenario Analysis, Clustering, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Random Forest, Text Mining, desired
  • Experience in programming languages such as R, Python, MATLAB, VBA etc. highly desired.
  • Experience in POSC/PPDM, PRODML, WITSML and OLE/ODBC highly desired.
  • Experience in creating standardized enterprise level solutions that are scalable, upgradeable and extensible desired.
  • Experience in modelling of the entire production system (Reservoir, wells, surface Network and Process) coupled with knowledge of industry standard enterprise solutions (data management, visualization, etc.) desired.
  • Experience in exploiting real time data coupled with physical and data driven models to manage oil and gas fields to increase asset value desired
  • Working knowledge of Petroleum Engineering software essential such as Pipesim, Prosper, Gap, MBAL, Wellflo, etc.
  • Experience in working in a team, with a track record of convincing/guiding stakeholders to the most sustainable approaches, practiced management of change, familiar with continuous process improvements methods, implemented quality management frameworks, etc. essential
  • Experience working on multiple digital projects desired
  • Experienced in developing best practices and standardization for reservoir simulation models desired.
  • Can work independently and suggest innovative ideas to improve and enhance solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with Oil Operator Engineers.
  • Previous experience working Middle East assets desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills –ability to relay technical knowledge and concepts in a coherent and friendly manner.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English essential. Arabic advantageous.

Package: This high-level consultancy role, commands an attractive Day Rate (Tax Free) plus accommodation, flight, VISA provided…Initial 12 month contract with strong potential for extension for a further 12 months.
