Overview
A leading provider of Reservoir Analysis Laboratory Services in the Oil and Gas industry is looking for a Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in the development of new business across wellsite, geology and laboratory divisions. The Company is open to junior to senior lever applicants, with a preference for proven sales/business development experience in the upstream O&G industry. Experience of wellsite core services, laboratory core analysis or/and SCAL services highly desired. The role offers excellent travel opportunities and the autonomy to craft new business and service strategies in a fast paced and dynamic company. The Company is open to reviewing all candidates based in Europe – however, there is a preference to be based in UK Surrey.

Part of a worldwide services group, the Company has expanded rapidly over recent years and are now preparing for future growth. As recognised experts in full cycle Core Analysis they undertake a range of analytical projects on behalf of their clients globally.

You will head up the end to end sales process in key regions throughout Europe and Africa, identifying new prospects, building strong working relations, designing strategies and driving revenue growth. You will be assigned a region of focus – however, flexibility is key and you may from time to time travel outside your region.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Director you will undertake the following tasks:
  • Become knowledgeable and competent in discussing the Company’s range of wellsite and core analysis services. Full training provided.
  • Understand the challenges and drivers for these services.
  • Build good working relationships with your peers and across the wider company. Assist in cross selling of the multi-department service portfolio.
  • Take responsibility for driving revenue across your designated region. Identify and prioritise leads in your target regions.
  • Be proactive in keeping abreast of drilling campaigns for your region – who is drilling, planning to – who are the key contacts, what are the timelines, prospects, sales forecasts…
  • Identify, seek out and build good working relationships with the players involved.
  • Understand client challenges and develop winning solutions
  • Be proactive in liaising with previous clients to drive repeat business.
  • Deliver technical presentations to senior clients.
  • Devise and continue to update your “Sales/Business Strategy” to drive/target this potential revenue.
  • Leverage tactical alliances with other players - increasing market share and amplifying service provision.
  • Maintain and share revenue forecasts on a regular basis.
  • Attend industry events as required; sharing industry knowledge and ideas.
  • Be proactive in raising the awareness and reputation of the Company’s solutions. As required, attend exhibitions, conferences etc.
  • Support operations in managing projects you have sold.
  • Keep abreast of wellsite technologies and core lab services in the market.
  • Generate competitor analysis and market share data and transfer this knowledge to peers.
  • Help influence the direction/ growth of these services.
  • For a more junior candidate, the Company will assign a few clients initially and mentor and support you enabling you to take on a wider client portfolio.
 
Preferences
The successful candidate will have:
  • An Earth Science related degree is preferred. Petroleum Geology advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, keen organisational capacity and proven strategy generating methods are essential.
  • Commercial acumen – open to junior candidates with a passion for sales or proven sales/business development expertise essential.
  • Experience of closing deals and managing revenue targets desired.
  • Background or knowledge of Core Analysis, SCAL, Reservoir Characterisation/Analysis, Petrophysics, Wellsite operations or/and Downhole logging tools highly advantageous.
  • Consultative sales experience desired – you are selling services not point products.
  • Strong outgoing personality essential – ability to reach out, identify and engage with key players across your targeted accounts in your region.
  • Strong organisational skills essential – ability to project manage your sale cycles and pipeline. Good revenue forecasting and management ability.
  • Ability to devise and implement a winning sales strategy that meets targets essential.
  • A team player - can work effectively with regional sales to promote and maximise Company revenues.
  • Can work with Operations to ensure sold projects are delivered professionally, within budget and on time. Repeat business is key!
  • Highly methodical - ability to multi-task, prioritise, with attention to detail but constantly paying attention to meeting targets.
  • Can travel as required across Europe and Africa.
