Overview
URGENT Placement - A leading global Services Company in the Oil and Gas industry seeks a Java Developer to augment their existing development team in Krakow. You will develop web applications and micro-service algorithms to optimize customer workflows and business processes. Applicants are invited with a solid background in JavaScript or TypeScript software development and a keen interest to learn and advance their skills working within the oil and gas industry. The Company is very active developing machine learning applications so experience in python highly desired. Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Reporting to the European Technical Sales Manager your primary responsibilities will be to:
  • Become knowledgeable in the Company’s technology products and development tools.
  • Working closely with internal subject matter experts, you will quickly understand customer challenges and workflows – primarily this will be in the drilling domain.
  • Working within the Agile project delivery methodology to develop web applications and micro-service algorithms to optimize customer workflows and business processes
  • Develop connectors/interfaces between different domain platform technologies to optimize reporting of business and technical KPIs
  • Develop modern JS-based front-end applications for end users.
  • Keep abreast of Web Development tools/technologies and applications in the market.
  • Role will fundamentally be Krakow based, working in a team of like-minded individuals. However, occasional client visits could be required.

This role is ideal for a dynamic individual with good web application development skills, a passion for technology and an interest in advancing their knowledge/expertise of web applications across the oil and gas industry. Preferences
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
  • Exploration & Production knowledge desirable but full training provided and supported by domain experts.
  • Good web software development using JavaScript or/and TypeScript essential.
  • Experience developing micro-service algorithms desired.
  • Preferably 4 years’ experience software development but Company willing to review less years.
  • Experience desired in Angular, HTML5, jQuery, Ajax, Bootstrap, Material…
  • Desired experience in - Java, Python, .NET..
  • Desired experience in - Tools: Visual Studio Code, Git, Maven..
  • Preferred insight/experience in - Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, Cassandra
  • Preferred insight/experience in - Operating systems: Linux Windows Server
  • Preferred insight/experience in - Application platforms: JBoss/WildFly EAP, Azure, Amazon Web services, Google cloud
  • Preferred insight/experience in - Network: Architecture, protocols.
  • Preferred insight/experience in - BPM: jBPM
  • Previous experience of Agile software development desired.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills – ability to grasp the challenges faced; the data available; and the problem to be solved.
  • An assertive individual with the personality and confidence to build relationships across all stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to articulate technical solutions in a coherent manner.
  • Strong project management as you may be involved in concurrent development projects.
  • Very good command of English
  • Can travel as required.
