A leading global Services Company in the Oil and Gas industry seeks an Technical Sales Consultant to provide technical support to the sales representatives in Eastern and Western Europe and Africa with a key focus on Poland, Ukraine, Greece, Hungary, Turkey, Croatia, Serbia etc. You will work closely with customers, understanding their system environments, technologies, challenges, constraints and drivers and you will assist in optimising their workflows across geoscience technologies. The key to this role is to engineer software solutions for the customer base thereby driving business and revenue. Applicants are invited with a relevant degree, a minimum of 8 years’ relevant industry experience, combined with a key interest in technology and a desire to gain greater exposure/experience of the commercial world. This is an exciting senior level role for an individual with a passion for technology – how it is developed and deployed to improve efficiencies for enterprise wide organisations. Also, role offers great opportunity to travel across the region (circa 50% travel) and for career progression.

Supported by global offices, the Company is a leading provider of integrated software solutions, covering the entire upstream oil cycle – from finding hydrocarbons to evaluating the prospects, building the wells, and managing and optimising the production process.

The deployment of technologies across all sectors of the upstream industry has been highly evident in recent years - from greater optimisation in the field, real-time centres, predictive maintenance, cloud solutions, big data analytics, transaction based software and much more.

The Company has been at the forefront of leading technology advancements for nearly three decades, enabling the upstream oil and gas industry to turn critical information into useful knowledge. They have made significant advancements in their geoscience technologies and have in December 2018 released their most advanced versions which have been greatly received across their major oil clients - hence the need to expand this Support Team.

With the deployment of their main point technologies to Cloud based solutions, they are one of the few Companies to provide clients with an online environment for optimizing their exploration and appraisal lifecycle across global teams.

This is a varied and exciting senior level role with lots of scope – you will provide thought leadership and guidance to your customers regarding all proposed software and services. You will understand their system environments; assist in optimising their workflows and make recommendations to customers (via white board presentations, conference calls, live product demonstrations and webinars). You will liaise with product development team to help drive product innovation and quality.

This roles enables you to experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry. The Company is flexible as to where you are based (e.g. Bucharest, Budapest, Krakow) and you have the opportunity to travel throughout the region (estimated 50% of Travel).

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Geoscience Team Lead your primary responsibilities will be to:
  • Become knowledgeable in the Company’s geoscience technologies and associated services.
  • Build good working relationships with your regional peers, the regional Sales Team and across the wider company matrix organization.
  • Seek out and build good working relationships with the key players across your assigned customer base – become the go-to-person for queries relating to all geoscience technologies.
  • Position, market and drive demand and sales for all geoscience software – both based in client offices and accessible via the cloud.
  • Work closely with other Technical Sales Consultants to optimise workflows across geoscience and other disciplines.
  • Understand the challenges and drivers across the Eastern European region, and understand how the Company’s geoscience solutions can help address these.
  • Work with customers and internal teams to create detailed workflows and models to address these challenges.
  • With close working relationships established with customers and partners – be proactive in expanding the reach of possible solutions.
  • Functions as a liaison between the customer and the Product Development Team to help drive product innovation and quality.
  • Prepare or assist in technical presentations, technical proposals, and tender responses in order to ensure that the proposed solution fully meets with technical targets and Company standards.
  • Analyse the applicability of new or innovative geoscience solutions using digital technologies such as cloud, IoT, machine learning, mixed reality amongst others and apply them as a part of the overall geoscience workflow.
  • Participate in public Technology Days, Trade Shows and customer specific technical events throughout the year, showcasing new functionality and key regional capabilities.
  • Actively participate in highlighting innovation with White Papers and industry publications individually and co–authored material.
  • Be proactive in raising the awareness and reputation of the Company’s well construction solutions.
  • Keep abreast of well construction solutions in the market – become competent discussing these with clients with the ability and confidence to highlight advantages of your Company’s solutions

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree essential. Preferably in a geoscience related subject such as geology, geophysics.
  • 8 years minimum Oil & Gas industry experience essential - preferably in a geoscience related area.
  • Previous experience working with, supporting or/and providing training in geoscience related technologies highly desired – full training and mentoring provided but experience of reservoir related technologies from Landmark or Schlumberger etc. advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a supporting or driving sales highly desired.
  • Some understanding of well and seismic data and data analysis essential.
  • Understanding of advanced data analytics and data science and how they relate to geoscience activities desired.
  • Knowledge of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and their meaning associated with respective activities desired.
  • Knowledge of front end analytics toolkit skills (Spotfire, powerBI) a bonus.
  • High interest in technology and its deployment within the upstream oil and gas industry essential.
  • The technical aptitude to grasp quickly the challenges and rewards of leading edge technologies and the ability to engage, champion and promote across customers.
  • Can work effectively with peers at all levels – other Technical Consultants, Sales Team, Product Development Team…
  • An assertive individual with the personality and confidence to build strong relationships across the customer base.
  • A strong team player but who can also work independently as required.
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to convey and present technical advantage in a coherent and easy manner.
  • Be creative and innovative problem solver - thinks conceptually and ‘out of the box’.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • A strong appreciation of stakeholder relationships – each interaction to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.

Other Information
Package: Based on skills and experience, an attractive Base Salary will be offered plus a Bonus Plan dependent on the success of the Sales Team ( Bonus could be as much as 20% of Base Salary). In addition, full Company Benefits included.
