Overview
URGENT: A major Oil and Gas Operator seeks a Solutions Architect to identify and develop an integration of all the architecture blocks (i.e. processes, software, technologies, data…) that is required to optimise production. Applicants are invited with a strong background in delivering solution architectures for complex solutions across multi-vendors. Experience within the upstream oil and gas industry highly desired, especially within production. The key is the ability to develop an integration that delivers improved optimisation. This is a 3 month contract initially but it is expected to run for a large part of 2019. Great opportunity to be involved in an exciting new project with a major operator.

The scope of the project covers business processes, applications, interfaces, technology and data. The project is a multi-vendor, multi-technology integrated workstream, with many integrations to systems of records back to the oil operator.

As an experience Solutions Architect, you will primarily work with the development teams, product teams and vendors to complete this project. The key focus is on optimising the data streams.

 
Responsibilities
The following deliverables are expected to be completed:
  • Develop an end to end architecture to optimize production
  • Identify the correct technical blocks and design the integration points
  • Review and assess data flows
  • Integrate new technologies with existing systems of records
  • Review business requirements and compare different products; select appropriately based on product gap analysis
  • Advice on future technologies (in relation with data stores) that the project should consider /benefit from
  • Develop conceptual and logical architectures
  • Own non-functional requirements
  • Build awareness of other workstreams that are delivering capability around e.g. data lake, integration, data market place and recognize where the subsurface should leverage this.
 
Preferences
The successful candidate will have:
  • An academic background in IT, Data Management or Systems highly advantageous.
  • Experience within the upstream oil and gas industry highly desired,
  • Experience of production workflows, solutions and data advantageous.
  • Experience in delivering solution architectures for complex solutions across business, technical, and data architecture domains.
  • Experience translating business requirements into functional, technical integration and data requirements specifications.
  • Experience reviewing impacts on existing and developing architectures and proposing suitable architecture solutions.
  • Experience working with multiple solutions and internal IT teams in order to provide architecture coverage at all stages of a program, and across all technical, functional, integration, data, and infrastructure components
  • Experience using Azure cloud technologies highly desired.
  • Understanding of Upstream open standards desired.
  • Proven work experience in big data desired.
  • Strong stakeholder management essential – the ability to engage and keep all stakeholders in the loop is key.
  • Excellent project management experience essential – can develop effectively within timeframes.
  • A strategic outlook. Previous experience developing multi-year architecture strategies, transitional architectures and associated roadmaps for complex and business critical areas desired.
