A leading geophysical acquisition Company seeks a Geoscientist to manage the day to day reporting and quality control of their geophysical acquisition data. Applicants invited with a geophysical or geological background, competent in using technologies combined with strong client facing skills. This role which is open to graduates or professionals, is highly varied and could lead to various career paths within the expanding Company.

The company is well-established in marine and airborne geophysical surveying from marine to airborne solutions for offshore, nearshore and transition zone exploration. They provide sophisticated high resolution, land or sea gravity gradient data, that helps pinpoint targets and saves time and money on some of the toughest mining or oil & gas exploration decisions. They continue to find new and innovative ways of acquiring, processing and interpreting gravity gradient data to minimise risk and maximise potential.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President , you will take responsibility for:
  • Manage the day to quality control of the geophysical acquisition data. The data is checked in the field but additional quality control required when transferred to the office.
  • Manage the day to day reporting of this geophysical data – ensure that all stakeholders involved are aware of status.
  • Arrange and attend project start up and close out meetings. Ensure that all notes are written up.
  • Manage the on-going communication, both internally and externally during live projects. Ensure all stakeholders are informed throughout the project.
  • Support the Sales/Business Development Team at all stages of the projects.
  • Support the Interpretation teams at all stages of projects.
  • Provide support to the Software and Processing Teams as required.
  • Perform all duties in a professional and timely manner.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and trends in relation to gravity related solutions.

The successful candidate will have
  • Degree in geophysics/geology preferred.
  • Experience in an exploration-focused industry advantageous.
  • An understanding or experience of “Potential fields” (includes gravity potential and static electric and magnetic fields) advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills is an absolute prerequisite.
  • Previous client-facing experience desired – however, the ability to engage and obtain the trust of clients is key.
  • Familiarity with industry software for potential fields an advantage – especially in gravity gradiometry tools.
  • Competent technology user - solid computer skills essential.
  • Good team player – you will liaise and interact with lots of different groups (in country and with other offices potentially), clients, contractors etc.
  • International exposure advantageous – clients are global with varying cultures, expectations and demands.
  • Competent with strong problem solving skills.
  • Highly resilient and able to work on your own initiative.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to take on more responsibilities and tasks.
  • Strong stakeholder management appreciation – ability to develop good working relationships with client globally.
  • Experience of knowledge of programming languages – Python, C/C++ advantageous.
  • Experience with Linux/BSD advantageous.
  • Experience with scripting languages including R and Matlab advantageous – there may be some requirement for scripting.
