Job Overview: A major global engineering and design service provider seeks a Planning Engineer to work on Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for large oil and gas capital intensive onshore projects. You will oversee Engineering Contractor’s works during FEED and Detailed Engineering stages e.g. plan, schedule, budget, collect, analyze, review contractors’ reports, schedules and invoice and prepare progress reports. Applicants invited with a strong background in FEED related projects. Working on a Tax Free, Expat residential Contract for a minimum of five years in an exciting and challenging role, you will be exposed to a great opportunity to develop your specific expertise working across various stakeholders on high value projects. This role is offered in adherence with Saudi Labour Law and therefore these positions are only open to Males and under the age of 55.

Al-Khobar is a large city located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the coast of the Persian Gulf and is linked to Bahrain via the causeway.

You will be contracted through the Company for a guaranteed 5 year period. The Company provides for single status and cannot assist with marital related visas or costs. This is a residential position (i.e. not rotational) and the Company provides 22 – 28 days holiday (depending on grade) plus you are entitled to all of the Saudi Public holidays (circa 10 - 14 days) which provide ample time to visit family. They will organise all mobilisation / demobilisation transport and you will be entitled to 2 flights home per year. For the first 28 days you will reside in the Holiday Inn and given the opportunity to visit their 5-6 accommodation compounds to select your preference.

Responsibilities: Working within the Project Controls unit, you will be responsible for:
  • Thoroughly understand the principles planning/scheduling as well as cost control
  • Understand the relationships between the project controls functions i.e. planning/scheduling, cost control, and risk management.
  • Identify and help in resolution of the items / issues hindering project progress.
  • Create client and internal status reports that effectively communicate progress and cost status along with trends.
  • Define corrective actions for implementation. Issue reports under the direction of lead project controls staff.
  • Thoroughly understand, defines, and identifies schedule classifications and levels.
  • Assist in the development of project work plans and schedules that support the project/business group work processes and milestones.
  • Review contractors’ schedules and progress reports and provide input to the project controls coordinator as well as the project management team for further action.
  • Be accountable to business group project controls management with matrix responsibility to the project control coordinator and project management.
  • Work with the project team to implement effective project controls systems, tools and procedures.
  • Develop and maintains meaningful relationships with other project team leads including engineering, procurement, project accounting and so forth.
  • Develop and maintains meaningful relationships with applicable external entities such as clients, partners, and subcontractors.
  • Deploy and implements standard planning procedures following business group procedures / client procedures
  • Manage the coordination with other project controls and project team leads to develop deliverables.
  • Identify and communicates key cost issues to project management in a timely manner to allow corrective action to be implemented.
These Project Teams will consist of senior level personnel with expertise in project management and engineering (e.g. design, civil, mechanical, electrical, pipeline, process, telecoms, etc). It is an exciting time to join this prestigious FEED project.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have
  • Full time degree (no long distance learning degrees) in Engineering essential.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas Industry with comprehensive experience in Planning Engineering essential.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to effectively communicate planning and general project controls information to client, project management, engineering and subcontractors.
  • Be able to define and prepare accurate and meaningful project status reports.
  • Must be able to communicate complex project controls information to team members.
  • PMP certification will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience working in Saudi or the Middle East advantageous.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordination of solutions to complex problems.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to stay abreast of new trends and technologies in your field.
  • Proactive, flexible and dedicated team player, able to achieve goals.
  • Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to engage and work effectively with team players from various cultures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships
Other Information
Package: An attractive Tax Free salary is on offer dependent on skills and experience plus end of service bonus. In addition, a full Ex-Pat package is available including housing, transport, 2 flights home per year, health and dental insurance 22-28 days holiday plus all Saudi national holidays which are circa 10-14 days.
