n behalf of our Energy Client who is also a leading provider of information to the global Defence, Power, and the Automotive Industries we seek a Senior Research Analyst(シニアリサーチアナリスト). In this role, you will be responsible for the generation and maintenance of technology descriptions and production forecasts for; vehicle engine; transmission; driveline; and hybrid/EV installations. You will provide research, analysis and customer support resource within automotive planning solutions business line. Applicants are invited with a degree in Engineering or Science and a minimum of 5 years related experience within the automotive industry and a strong research background.

Working with 2 colleagues, you will undertake desk and primary research with vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers in a multi-disciplined environment and use this research to populate databases covering various components and subsystems. Information gathered will include; fitment rates; technology; materials; and supplier information.

This position reports directly to the Research and Analysis Director in London and has a dotted line to the Associate Director, APAC Powertrain & Compliance Forecasting. It encompasses many functions including:
  • Become competent in the Company’s suite of solutions, services, work flows and practices.
  • Generate and maintain technology descriptions and production forecasts of vehicle engine, transmission, driveline and hybrid/EV installations.
  • Undertake desk and primary research with both vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers in a multi-disciplined environment. Use this research to populate databases covering various components and subsystems.
  • Support the Principal Analyst in the maintenance of the Japanese powertrain production forecast.
  • Work closely to and take guidance from one of our Principal Japan Analysts, in the collection of Powertrain related information such as regulation, technology, and daily news in the Japanese market.
  • In addition to traditional quantitative analysis techniques, publish summary information and rationale for forecasts such as legislative, technological developments, system information, trend analysis and engine product cycle charts, i.e. undertake a qualitative assessment.
  • Based on the information collection and additional data sourcing such as vehicle actual sales and used vehicle powertrain statistics, the analyst will analyze the drivers and factors behind this information, and produce logical assumptions for the impact on the Powertrain forecast.
  • Develop and maintain a network of dependable research respondents.
  • Maintain close liaison with clients; ensure that their information needs are fulfilled.
  • Support and defend information and forecasts delivered to clients, ensure that clients take full advantage of the benefits available from the use of our products and services.
  • Build partnerships with clients in your region, dealing with their concerns and issues and providing general customer support.
  • Provide full preparation and support to the Principal Analyst in order to ensure effective client meetings, and help produce feedback material to customers in subsequent support.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of data from sources; work with data sources in a professional manner; collect, organize and store data within a usable, accessible structure; work with product and technical groups to develop appropriate data format and structure.
  • Merge and/or combine disparate data into a coherent format and structure; deploy cleansed and consistent data through appropriate Company systems; ensure data integrity; use comprehensive quality control procedures to synthesize and integrate external data into the Company's systems; identify and solve data consistency issues.
  • Provide constructive input within expert area to peers; understand the issues that will impact area of responsibility and how these issues impact our organization and/or clients; make original contributions to your area of expertise and apply tested ideas from other fields or areas.
  • Understand the Company’s business strategies including its competencies, capabilities, products and services; recognize and embrace cost saving initiatives and/or revenue opportunities; recognize influence on and connection between your responsibilities and the Company's financial success.
  • Propose new internal processes. Develop creative means to overcome barriers - analyse the causes of problems and develop creative alternative solutions.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science essential. An Automotive technology element within the degree desired.
  • More than 5 years direct work experience OR a demonstrable affinity with the automotive industry essential.
  • Powertrain development (designing, experimentation, simulation related experience is highly desirable.
  • Previous research/data analysis experience essential.
  • Strong technical understanding of automotive systems, particularly in the area of Powertrains desired.
  • At least 2 years data management experience with emphasis on cleansing, importing, merging, formatting, and synthesizing large data sets highly desired.
  • An understanding of research processes and ability to interpret complex industry data and information
  • Ability to visualize and compile large sets of data into a clear and useable format essential.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills essential.
  • Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills, with proficiency in MS Office. High work ethic and ability to work to tight deadlines

Package: A Base Salary of circa JPY 6,000,000 is on offer dependant on
