Overview
Interested in TAX FREE Role? A major global petrochemical manufacturing company seeks a Laboratory Chemist to work with and maintain sophisticated analytical instruments/equipments (i.e. Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, UV-spectrophotometer etc.). Applicants invited with a degree in Chemistry and a minimum of 10 years’ chemical experience within Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals Plants. Working on a Tax Free, Expat residential permanent role, you will be exposed to a great opportunity to develop your specific expertise working across various stakeholders on high value projects. This role is offered in adherence with Saudi Labour Law and therefore these positions are only open to Males and under the age of 58.

With offices and manufacturing plants spread across 6 continents, the Company is one of the largest global petrochemical organisations. They manufacture petrochemical products for a wide range of industries including construction, healthcare, agriculture, industrial and automotive.

Jubail is a large industrial city located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the coast of the Persian Gulf. It is within easy reach of Dammam and Al Khobar and you can easily visit both Bahrain and Kuwait.

This is a residential position (i.e. not rotational) and the Company provides 22 – 28 days holiday (depending on grade) plus you are entitled to all of the Saudi Public holidays (circa 10 - 14 days).
 
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
  • Sample and analyse liquid, solid and gaseous effluents (waste stream).
  • Monitoring APC availability & utilization, strive to increase their attainment to make it more functional giving the maximum realization via checking loop healthiness & module validations.
  • Undertake analysis related to water treatment plant, Boiler units, Ammonia & urea plants, compound fertilizers the analysis of Urea formaldehyde and compound fertilizer.
  • Undertake analyses related to Environmental monitoring & pollution control.
  • Undertake ground water analysis and interpretation.
  • Ensure the adherence to the Company’s HSE standards during execution of job testing, analysis and operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Keeping abreast of emerging trends and technologies within your relevant field.
 
Preferences
The successful candidate will have
  • Batchelor’s degree in Chemistry essential. Masters or PhD preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ chemical experience within Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals Plants essential.
  • Strong previous experience working with and maintaining sophisticated analytical instruments/equipments essential.
  • You should have a strong background using some/all of the following:
    • Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer,
    • Gas chromatograph,
    • UV-spectrophotometer,
    • Specific ion analyzer,
    • KFR titrate,
    • Distillation Apparatus,
    • Viscometers,
    • Centrifuge,
    • Automatic titrates.
  • Familiar with the sampling and analytical techniques involved in liquid, solid and gaseous effluents (waste stream) essential.
  • Versatile in the analysis related to water treatment plant, Boiler units, Ammonia & urea plants, compound fertilizers the analysis of Urea formaldehyde and compound fertilizer essential.
  • Versatile in the analyses related to Environmental monitoring & pollution control essential.
  • Knowledge of ground water analysis and interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of Microprocessor based analytical equipment (i.e. GC, AAS) and specific software such as statistical process control (SPC) essential.
  • Strong IT skills essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to communicate to key stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working in Saudi or the Middle East advantageous.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordination of solutions to complex problems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Proactive, flexible and dedicated team player, able to achieve goals.
  • Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team essential.

Package: A highly attractive salary is on offer dependent on skills and experience. In addition, a full Ex-Pat package is available including housing, transport, 2 flights home per year, health and dental insurance 22-28 days holiday plus all Saudi national holidays which are circa 10-14 days.
