An Information Services and Software Company is seeking a Database Consultant to provide advice and guidance in how to extract data from the Schlumberger’s Studio application. Applicants are invited a good understanding of the Studio data model. Experience in extracting, archiving and restoring seismic data is a major advantageous. It is estimated to be a 1 to 2 week contract but could be extended so flexibility desired but not essential.

Their modern-day data management services incorporate geological, geophysical and geotechnical data and provide solutions for physical and digital data management, access and storage and archiving and backup.

The Company’s advanced archiving solution enables companies to manage their petrotechnical data, providing a solution to; compliance, knowledge retention, data and storage growth and data integrity challenges. The solution is already integrated with many mainstream exploration geotechnical applications such as Landmark’s SeisWorks®, OpenWorks® and CDA, Schlumberger Petrel* and GeoFrame. The Company continues to extend its capabilities and are now incorporating an interface to seismic data, stored in the Studio data model.

In this contract role, you will assist the development team in understanding the nuances of seismic storage, archiving and retrieval within the Studio application. You will provide an understanding as to how users share their seismic, analysis it, make decisions as what data to be archived etc.

You will work in a small friendly team of passionate engineers. The Company is set in a picturesque part of East Sussex with direct train line to London Bridge and East Croydon. It is a 30-40 min drive from Brighton.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Knowledgeable of Schlumberger’s Studio database essential.
  • An understanding of how Seismic data is stored, used, archived within Studio essential.
  • A subsurface background highly desired.
  • Excellent communications skills – ability to articulate technical workflows to development teams essential.
  • Consultancy style approach – can listen and respond to development team’s objectives.
