Overview
A well established and respected Technical and Management Consultancy Company in the oil and gas industry seeks a Senior Reservoir Engineer to support their expanding integrated services and drive technical and commercial excellence. Applicants invited who are highly entrepreneurial, have a minimum of 15 years’ industry experience, and a broad technical reservoir engineering background, preferably including work with a major operator followed by consultancy. Maturity and expert technical capability to influence clients at a senior level is key. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity where top performance is valued and highly rewarded financially, potentially realising a package in excess of £200K pa.

This independent Company provides strategic, commercial and technical analysis and advice to a range of global companies such as oil operators, investors, law firms and government agencies. Their established team consists of geoscientists, petroleum engineers, operational, asset and project managers and business strategists. They provide solution based services covering exploration and appraisal (from basin studies to drilling), field development studies (from feasibility to mature fields) and expert advice where arbitration is required.

They work on complex high value client problems where success requires a high level of expertise and clear, concise decision-making. Working as an individual or part of an integrated team, they deliver consultancy across all stages of asset lifecycles.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Working as part of an integrated Team, the role will encompass a broad range of activities including:
  • Perform reservoir engineering studies for field development planning and optimisation.
  • Conduct independent audits of assets/portfolios to industry standards.
  • Create production forecasts and recovery forecasts.
  • Undertake due diligence evaluations for asset acquisition
  • Perform reserves & resources audits to SPE, SEC or COGEH standards.
  • Provide expert opinion on third party reserves reports and operator development plans.
  • Act as Expert Witness in legal disputes, or as the Expert in Expert Determinations.
  • Manage all aspects of client liaison and reporting for your specific projects.
  • Work as part of the team in relation to integrated studies.
  • Strive to deliver projects on-time, within budget and to the highest level of professionalism feasible – drive technical excellence throughout.
  • Establish, maintain and develop client relationships, promoting the Company’s reputation and capabilities to current and potential clients.
  • Be proactive in developing new business opportunities.
  • Be proactive in developing your technical capabilities, in keeping abreast of industry practices and technologies, and also in the capture and sharing of knowledge and best practices across the Company.
  • Attend relevant industry events to represent and promote the Company’s services.

The key to this role is having a broad reservoir engineering background, combined with the desire to succeed in a dynamic and co-operative consultancy practice sharing in the Company’s profits.
 
Preferences
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree in Petroleum Engineering or related subject essential, preferably supplemented with an MSc or PhD in Petroleum Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years oil and gas industry experience essential.
  • Experience working with a large operator desired as is working with a smaller player or consultancy house.
  • Proven experience in some of the following areas of reservoir engineering desired:
    • Resource and asset evaluations
    • Oil and gas field production forecasting using classical reservoir engineering techniques material balance modelling and dynamic simulation modelling.
    • Hydrocarbon recovery mechanisms and recovery factor estimation.
    • Field Appraisal and Development Planning.
    • Reserves Reporting or Auditing.
    • Due diligence studies.
    • Field operations
  • Competent user of reservoir engineering software essential. The Company uses an array of industry standard software such as Eclipse, Petrel, Prosper etc.
  • Previous technical lead experience with the ability to scope, manage and/or carry out project independently or as part of an integrated team essential.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English essential.
  • Ability to support and drive technical excellence essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to maintain and build strong relationships with clients and work colleagues
 
Other Information
Package: Flexible highly incentivised remuneration package, potentially delivering in excess of £200K per annum for full partnership arrangements.
