One of the largest domestic Refining Company’s in Saudi seeks a Senior HR Advisor to provide professional advice and support to the Company’s Human Resources Policy & Organizational Development department in the execution of its accountabilities and to take the lead on assigned accountabilities, projects etc. as directed and to support the professional development of assigned colleagues. Applicants invited with a degree in Business Administration or equivalent, combined with a minimum of 10 years HR experience. It is expected that you should have some experience within a Chemical/Petrochemical company. This role is offered in adherence with Saudi Labour Law and therefore these positions are only open to Males and under the age of 58. This is a senior level role and a commensurable salary is on offer.

The Company is one of the world's largest and most technologically advanced refineries. It is a highly complex refinery at maximum crude intake as it includes (HCU) Hydrocracker Unit, (VBU) Visbreaker Unit, and Thermal Gas-Oil Unit (TGU).

Jubail is a large city located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the coast of the Persian Gulf and is easily accessible to Bahrain and Al Khobar.

This is a residential permanent position (i.e. not rotational) and the Company provides 22 – 26 days holiday (depending on grade) plus you are entitled to all of the Saudi Public holidays (circa 10 - 14 days) which provide ample time to visit family. The package is substantial, with allowances for housing / settling in / transportation, annual bonus, medical, schooling, flights home etc. The Company will organise all mobilisation / demobilisation transport.

Due to visa restrictions within Saudi, there is a preference for western nationals such as American, Canadian, Australian, Europeans etc.
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources Policy & Organizational Development, you will be responsible for:
  • Analysing workforce resourcing requirements and making appropriate recommendations on required manpower to support effective business operations, supporting the delivery of approved future manpower targets etc.
  • Leading in the preparation of all Human Resources input to the Company Board, and Board Compensation Committee meetings, reports, analysis etc.
  • Leading all Company employee engagement initiatives, to include employee engagement strategy, surveys, design and delivery of action plans, employee communications etc.
  • Creating and maintaining job descriptions/role profiles for all Company approved positions. Ensure that all job descriptions/role profiles within the Company are properly evaluated and are appropriately positioned within the Company’s grading structure.
  • Ensuring that all remuneration and benefits policies and practices support applicable talent attraction and retention initiatives, supporting compelling employee value propositions and maintaining the Company’s competitive positioning with respect to its local market competitors. Take the lead on salary review and bonus process.
  • Take the lead on Company performance management policies and procedures.
  • Continuously review Human Resources policy to ensure its fitness for purpose, ensuring market typicality etc. as appropriate.
  • Designing and executing comprehensive procedures for all key Human Resources policies, as appropriate.
  • Taking the lead in relation to the Company’s talent management policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring that the business processes and work activities, relevant to your position, are executed in compliance with Company policy, procedures and best practice to achieve the business objectives in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Effectively coach and mentor less senior colleagues, specifically Saudi national graduate participants on the Company’s Professional Development Program scheme.
  • Ensuring that measures to protect personal safety and well-being are always in place and that personal actions do not jeopardize the safety and well-being of others.
  • Adhering strictly to all IOWs, Safe Operating Procedures, and Safe Work Instructions - thus preventing potential WPS and PSM incidents at all times.
  • Always complying with the Company HSE Policy, the 5 Safety Principles and 12 Golden Safety Rules.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies within HR.
The successful candidate will have
  • Full time degree (no long distance learning degrees) in Business Adminstration or equivalent essential.
  • Possession of a relevant professional qualification e.g. S.H.R.M., C.I.P.D., G.R.P. etc. highly desired.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ HR experience essential.
  • Experience of HR within a Chemical/Petrochemical company essential.
  • International HR experience essential.
  • Previous experience with some or all of the following essential:
    • Compensation and Benefits policy and practice.
    • Job Analysis and Job Evaluation.
    • Performance management.
    • Employee engagement.
    • Coaching and mentoring.
    • Intercultural competence including the GCC.
    • Resource planning.
    • Organizational development.
    • HR analytics.
    • SAP/SuccessFactor familiarity.
    • Workplace Safety.
  • Highly analytical and problem solving skills essential.
  • Previous experience working in Saudi or the Middle East advantageous.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to stay abreast of new trends in your field.
  • Strong decision making skills with the confidence to stand by your decisions.
  • Proactive, flexible and dedicated team player, able to achieve goals.
  • Strong Personality with self-confidence
  • Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to engage and work effectively with team players from various cultures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships
Other Information
Package: A highly attractive TAX FREE salary is on offer dependent on skills and experience. In addition, a full Ex-Pat package is available including a range of allowances for housing, transportation, settling.
