Interested in TAX FREE Role? A major global petrochemical manufacturing company seeks a Process Engineer for their Methanol Plant. You will take responsibility for the accomplishment of the Process Engineering and work under limited supervision and provide technical input in compiling data and providing solutions to plant problems. Applicants invited with a degree in Chemical Engineering combined with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the area of Methanol Plant process engineering. Working on a Tax Free, Expat residential permanent role, you will be exposed to a great opportunity to develop your specific expertise working across various stakeholders on high value projects. This role is offered in adherence with Saudi Labour Law and therefore these positions are only open to Males and under the age of 58.

With offices and manufacturing plants spread across 6 continents, the Company is one of the largest global petrochemical organisations. They manufacture petrochemical products for a wide range of industries including construction, healthcare, agriculture, industrial and automotive.

Jubail is a large industrial city located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the coast of the Persian Gulf. It is within easy reach of Dammam and Al Khobar and you can easily visit both Bahrain and Kuwait.

This is a residential position (i.e. not rotational) and the Company provides 22 – 28 days holiday (depending on grade) plus you are entitled to all of the Saudi Public holidays (circa 10 - 14 days) which provide ample time to visit family. They will organise all mobilisation / demobilisation transport and you will be entitled to 2 flights home per year.
You will be responsible for:
  • Effectively monitoring the reactors performance, catalyst activity and putting your data analysis and recommendations into a technical report.
  • Effectively troubleshooting in your assigned area.
  • Working independently on less complex investigations, achieving original solutions in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshooting any limitation issues with equipment and recommending a solution.
  • Optimizing the plant on a daily basis and checking all key operating parameters, looking to take immediate action to improve specific consumptions, SEEC, sustainability & regularity requirements as required.
  • Assertively participate in unit activities e.g. discussions on operational problems and solutions, and demonstrate initiative and some independence. Coordinate group (e.g. task force) activities in the solution of problems.
  • Effectively organise ideas and present them in a written report or in a formal presentation.
  • Lead Process Safety Review meetings for the methanol plant, contributing technical inputs and knowledge.
  • Carrying out your duties to the highest quality standards, being aware of the Company's quality programs and being aware of and complying with departmental standard operating procedures and Company's policies and procedures.
  • Complying with all Company's safety procedures, regulations and programs.
  • Carrying out other similar or related duties as required.
  • Keeping abreast of emerging trends and technologies within your relevant field.
The successful candidate will have
  • Batchelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering essential. Masters or PhD preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in experience in the area of Methanol Plant process engineering essential.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the use of different polymer software for overall plant simulation (steady and dynamic) with deep understanding of limitations of the software and models essential.
  • Knowledge and working experience of statistical software
  • Previously conducted debottlenecking for methanol plants in relation to new functions/products desired.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions to issues.
  • Previously participated in plant wide TA planning, optimizing and execution advantageous.
  • Previously participated in RCAs and HAZOP reviews desired.
  • Previous experience working in Saudi or the Middle East advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision in the planning, organizing and coordination of solutions to complex problems.
  • Competent with the ability to lead a team of discipline engineers and provide engineering support.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to stay abreast of new trends and technologies in your field.
  • Proactive, flexible and dedicated team player, able to achieve goals.
  • Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to engage and work effectively with team players from various cultures. The ability to present results to stakeholders is key.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships
