One of the largest Oil and Gas Operators in Pakistan seeks an Exploration Manager to manage the exploration team and lead the exploration for unconventional resources. This role could be a General or Senior Manager level dependent of skills and experience. Applicants invited with a Master’s degree in a Geoscience discipline (i.e. Geology, Geophysics….), combined with a minimum of 20 years hydrocarbon exploration experience. There is a preference for international experience in the exploration of new basins. This is an exciting senior level role which offers the opportunity to influence the direction that the Company’s Exploration Department will take. A highly competitive package is on offer for this senior level role.

The Company is a well-established Pakistani oil and gas corporation. They provide a significant amount of the county’s natural gas as well as producing crude oil, NGL (Natural Gas Liquid) and LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas). They have interests in a large number of licences in Pakistan, Iraq and Yemen. The majority of their assets are operated by the Company, with others operated by joint venture partners.

In this senior level role, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading exploration for unconventional hydrocarbons (Tight Gas) by employing latest techniques.
  • Formulating an effective strategy for petroleum exploration for the blocks within the assigned area and preparing Work Programs and Budgets for the planned exploration work.
  • Directing and ensuring the implementation of the exploration program to identify economic drillable prospects with the assigned area.
  • Developing seismic operations and drilling programs for all assigned blocks within exploration.
  • Ensuring that you gain approval of exploration Work Programs and Budgets from the Government and Partners of joint ventures through TCM/OCM.
  • Developing team members to build a high performance asset team.
  • Willingness to travel to any Company locations.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies within your relevant field.
The successful candidate will have
  • Masters’ degree in Geoscience (i.e. Geology Geophysics…..) essential.
  • A minimum of 20 years’ hydrocarbon exploration experience essential.
  • Previous experience developing exploration strategies highly preferable.
  • Some international experience in the exploration of new basins highly preferable.
  • Previous experience in senior level roles within exploration essential – preferably in an exploration or general management position.
  • An understanding of budgets for exploration essential.
  • The ability to prepare Work Programs for both seismic operations and drilling programmes essential.
  • Previous technical experience with unconventional resources highly desired – especially Tight Gas.
  • Highly analytical and problem solving skills essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present findings to relevant stakeholders (i.e. Government, Joint Venture partners…).
  • Highly diplomatic – ability to engage and gain approval for Work Programs and budgets essential.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to stay abreast of new trends in your field.
  • Proactive, flexible and dedicated team player, able to achieve goals.
  • Highly self-confident and motivated to drive new exploration strategies to success.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and work effectively with team players.
  • Keen interest in sharing knowledge/experience and building a strong technical team to deliver exploration success.
