Overview
URGENT: An Oil and Gas Super Major seeks a Business Analyst to work at their Surrey based office supporting a modernization and transformation (M&T) project. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will assist in defining the risks, tasks and artefacts for the “Define Phase” of the project. Applicants are invited with strong BA experience in Information Technologies combined with Oil and Gas domain knowledge. Experience of projects for Major Capital Projects is highly desirable. This is an exciting short-term contract which is to run for a minimum of 3 months, but there may be potential for extension.
The O&G client is in the midst of modernising and transforming many aspects of their Upstream IT and Service operations. Their strategic vision is to become a data-driven and digital organization.

The objective of this project is to develop and implement a streamlined and optimal roadmap for Major Capital Projects DEFINE phase. This roadmap will recognise the need for efficiency and stable repetition in multiple global projects, with well-defined governance and oversight.






 
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Reporting to a Project Manager in M&T, this role encompasses many functions including:
  • Understand the project lifecycle and the methodologies deployed by the operator for major capital projects.
  • Working with the relevant stakeholders across the Company, help identify and define the risks, artefacts and tasks involved in the DEFINE phase. You will liaise with customer stakeholders across the Information and Technology and Services globally.
  • As a BA you will work with the business units involved, detailing the business case which will demonstrate the business value in a selection of the 6 M&T workstreams:
Reporting & Visualization
o Project Delivery Environment (PLM i.e. Project Lifecycle Management)
o Smart Construction including 4D/5D modelling
o Project ERP Interface
o Process Automation
o Collaborative Contracting
  • Document and report detailed findings, enabling the M&T Project Manager to make informed decisions.
  • Assist in defining the Governance and Oversight required to ensure continued project lifecycle efficiency.
  • Work closely with the M&T Project Managers, ensuring that deadlines are met, outstanding issues are addressed or escalated, reporting/feedback/control mechanisms are understood and adhered to.
 
Preferences
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
  • An academic background in an IT or a Business related subject desired.
  • A solid background in business analysis essential, preferably at a strategic level with experience of working across a product lifecycle.
  • Experience working on an IT&S “Modernization and Transformation” project highly desired.
  • Experience in Major Capital Projects desired, especially in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Diplomatic with the ability to engage with a large number of stakeholders to uncover relevant information across departments and to drive consensus.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting individual who can manage their own time and deliver to tight project deadlines.
  • Portfolio understanding of some of the IT applications and infrastructure deployed across upstream oil and gas desired.
  • Highly professional – can define project objectives, identify all stakeholders involved, set goals, and deliver to deadlines.
  • Highly analytical/methodical – the ability to understand the problem, the tools available and to deliver the solution.
  • Excellent communications skills essential (both written and oral English), with the ability to present findings
