Overview
Interested in TAX FREE Role? A major global engineering and design service provider seeks a Principal Piping Engineer to be responsible for preparing and reviewing engineering studies, design drawings, documents, and material and equipment specifications. You may be assigned as a Discipline Technical Authority (DTA) or as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). You may also be assigned as a Lead Piping Engineer on a project. Applicants invited with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in Piping Engineering in the oil/gas, hydrocarbon offshore industry. You should be recognized as a specialist in a specific engineering field on large to mega offshore projects. Working on a Tax Free, Expat residential permanent role, you will be exposed to a great opportunity to develop your specific expertise working across various stakeholders on high value projects. This role is offered in adherence with Saudi Labour Law and therefore these positions are only open to Males and under the age of 58.

The Company employs 5000+ people and formed in 2009 from the integration of two of the Kingdom’s engineering companies. They provide engineering, project management, procurement and construction management solutions for Oil/Gas, Pipelines, Healthcare, Waste and Wastewater, Petrochemical etc.

Al-Khobar is a large city located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the coast of the Persian Gulf and is linked to Bahrain via the causeway.

This is a residential permanent position (i.e. not rotational) and the Company provides 22 – 28 days holiday (depending on grade) plus you are entitled to all of the Saudi Public holidays (circa 10 - 14 days). The Company will provide accommodation for single or family status in a secure compound. They will organise all mobilisation / demobilisation transport and you will be entitled to 2 flights home per year.

Due to visa restrictions within Saudi, there is a preference for American, Canadian and British nationals.





 
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Piping Head of Department/Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Preparing and reviewing engineering studies, design drawings, documents, and material and equipment specifications.
  • Resolving specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards.
  • Performing and/or overseeing all Piping Stress Analysis, assuring compliance with all applicable codes pertaining to piping systems and strain sensitive equipment.
  • Assisting in the preparation of man-hour estimates for all Piping Engineering activities.
  • Assisting with required project reporting for Piping Engineering.
  • Ensuring coordination with other in-house departments..
  • Developing and maintaining a list of lines to be stress analyzed.
  • Developing and maintaining a spring support list.
  • Performing wall thickness and branch reinforcing calculations.
  • Preparing requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and supplier document review for spring supports and expansion joints.
  • Performing thorough review of relevant vendor information.
  • Providing a timely internal check of drawings produced by other MHDP disciplines.
  • Incorporating MHDP procedures and standards into design as applicable.
  • Keeping abreast of emerging trends and technologies within your relevant field
 
Preferences


Preferences: The successful candidate will have
  • Full time degree (no long distance learning degrees) in Engineering essential.
  • Corporate Member of a recognized Mechanical chartered professional body highly desired.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ Piping Engineering or related industry experience essential.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, ANSI, API, etc.) essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office software (Word and Excel) and Company purchased and in house created software. Should also be familiar with editing, opening and reading drawings in Microstation and working with SP3D 3D CAD system on projects essential.
  • Previous experience working in Saudi or the Middle East advantageous.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordination of solutions to complex problems.
  • Competent with the ability to lead a team of discipline engineers and provide engineering support.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to stay abreast of new trends and technologies in your field.
  • Proactive, flexible and dedicated team player, able to achieve goals.
  • Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to engage and work effectively with team players from various cultures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships
  • Valid driving license of Saudi or country of origin highly advantageous.
  • Ability and willingness to travel offshore to make inspections and to undertake surveys.
  • Ability to lift and carry things whilst offshore.
 
Other Information
Package: A highly attractive Tax Free salary is on offer dependent on skills and experience.
