Overview
Interested in TAX FREE Role? A major global engineering and design service provider seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead a team of senior and junior electrical design engineers for Offshore facilities. You may be assigned as a Discipline Technical Authority (DTA) or as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Applicants invited with a minimum of 15 years’ experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer and/or Electrical Engineer in Planning, Engineering and Designing of Extra High Voltage Submarine Cable System Offshore substations, Electrical Equipment, components and System for Off-shore, deep & shallow water oil and gas facilities. Working on a Tax Free, Expat residential permanent role, you will be exposed to a great opportunity to develop your specific expertise working across various stakeholders on high value projects. This role is offered in adherence with Saudi Labour Law and therefore these positions are only open to Males and under the age of 58.

The Company employs 5000+ people and formed in 2009 from the integration of two of the Kingdom’s engineering companies. They provide engineering, project management, procurement and construction management solutions for Oil/Gas, Pipelines, Healthcare, Waste and Wastewater, Petrochemical etc.

Al-Khobar is a large city located in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the coast of the Persian Gulf and is linked to Bahrain via the causeway.

This is a residential permanent position (i.e. not rotational) and the Company provides 22 – 28 days holiday (depending on grade) plus you are entitled to all of the Saudi Public holidays (circa 10 - 14 days). The Company will provide accommodation for single or family status in a secure compound. They will organise all mobilisation / demobilisation transport and you will be entitled to 2 flights home per year.

Due to visa restrictions within Saudi, there is a preference for American, Canadian and British nationals.



 
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer/Electrical Department Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Coordinating with electrical and other disciplines lead or senior engineers to ensure full compliance of the project electrical design with the requirements specified on project design scope and on the relevant industry standards.
  • Guiding the electrical engineers to resolve engineering problems in accordance with industry principles, codes and standards.
  • Developing budgets and/or review proposals with estimate of man-hours and cost for design as well as project supervision.
  • Overseeing design efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily on time and within budget.
  • Reviewing and approving the electrical drawings, construction and material specifications to ensure that the design and constructions conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving special study reports, design calculations and design specifications.
  • Reviewing and approving BOQ, equipment/materials specifications and selection, construction specifications, testing and commissioning procedures.
  • You may be assigned as a Discipline Technical Authority (DTA); a person identified as an overall technically competent team member able to address technically complex issues & mentor team members with their technical work.
  • You may be assigned as a Subject Matter Expert (SME); a person recognized to possess a high degree of knowledge on a particular subject and/or piece of equipment.
  • Keeping abreast of emerging trends and technologies within your relevant field
 
Preferences
Preferences: The successful candidate will have
  • Full time degree (no long distance learning degrees) in Electrical Engineering essential.
  • BOSIET - Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency training certification essential.
  • Professional or registered Electrical engineer certifications from recognized institutions or certifying boards highly desired.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer and/or Electrical Engineer in Planning, Engineering and Designing of Extra High Voltage Submarine Cable System Offshore substations, Electrical Equipment, components and System for Off-shore, deep & shallow water oil and gas facilities essential.
  • Good knowledge of electrical safety codes, Electrical Hazardous area classification codes, international electrical codes, standards & specifications related to Electrical facilities for Off-shore Oil and Gas facilities essential.
  • Knowledge of Power System Study and familiarity with Off-shore Oil production code specifically essential. ABS code and Coast guard knowledge advantageous.
  • Previous experience working in Saudi or the Middle East advantageous.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordination of solutions to complex problems.
  • Competent with the ability to lead a team of discipline engineers and provide engineering support.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to stay abreast of new trends and technologies in your field.
  • Proactive, flexible and dedicated team player, able to achieve goals.
  • Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to engage and work effectively with team players from various cultures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships
  • Valid driving license of Saudi or country of origin highly advantageous.
  • Ability and willingness to travel offshore.
  • Ability to lift and carry things whilst offshore
 
Other Information
Package: A highly attractive Tax Free salary is on offer dependent on skills and experience. In addition, a full Ex-Pat package for single or family status is available including housing, transport, 2 flights home per year, health and dental insurance 22-28 days holiday plus all Saudi national holidays which are circa 10-14 days.
