Overview

A Leading Systems Consultancy focused on delivering Trading, Logistics, Optimisation and Risk Management solutions for clients in the commodity and energy trading industries seek a Junior C# Developer to complement the team as they experience a period of growth. Applicants are invited with proven C# and SQL Server experience within a structured commercial environment, preferably with an energy trading or finance background.

The Company has been providing services and solutions to help clients manage deregulation changes and capitalise on new market opportunities for over 20 years. Their experience has since extended across the global markets and commodity set, helping clients deal with portfolio management, risk management and financial accounting requirements in the context of complex contractual terms and logistics management. They have been at the forefront of developing software to manage these risks. The Company is highly reputable and has conducted projects across all commodities including Oil and Gas, Metals, LNG, Power etc.

Responsibilities

This role encompasses many functions;
  • Become competent in the Company’s software solutions, work flows and practices.
  • Help build, support and maintain production software systems with existing clients.
  • Work with business analysts and users to translate business requirements into clear technical and analytical systems solutions.
  • Work closely with other team members in a fast paced agile environment.
  • Develop high quality code that meets a set of specified acceptance criteria.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and project managers to ensure that development targets are met.
  • Quickly learn commodities trading concepts and then apply this knowledge within a consultancy role.

This role is ideal for a scientific/analytical individual who enjoys devising technical solutions to address business needs. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced developers and gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of software development within large commodities trading organisations. There is a great opportunity to progress quickly within this organisation.

 
Preferences

The successful candidate will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in a numerate or IT related discipline essential.
  • Software development experience using C# and SQL Server within a structured commercial environment essential. This will include working within projects that follow a standard software development methodology e.g. Waterfall or Agile.
  • Proven C# and SQL development skills essential.
  • Knowledge of standard software design patterns essential.
  • Exposure to the latest .Net framework concepts and technologies essential.
  • Good understanding of GUI design concepts highly desired.
  • Proven experience of domain and data model design and developing these models within an application domain layer or relational database essential.
  • Knowledge of commodities trading concepts highly advantageous.
  • Previous working experience in Energy Trading or Banking highly advantageous.
  • Highly analytical/methodical – the ability to understand the problem, the tools available and to deliver the solution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills essential – the ability to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Excellent communications skills essential (both written and oral English), with the ability to listen and discuss technical matters in a clear and articulate manner.
  • Ability to pick up business concepts quickly and understand how to logically implement them within a software solution.

 
Other Information

Package: Dependent on skills and experience, a Base Salary of £35K - £40K plus a performance based bonuses is on offer.
